I use my Touch in my car with a radio adaptor thingy. Everytime I switch it on, it resets itself to an album which I listened to a while ago, rather than a shuffle of all songs which is what I always listen to. Shouldn't it remember where it was? My old nano always used to... If it should, what can I do about this? Any help much appreciated as it's driving me mad having to set it up every time I get in the car.

When you're done listening, are you putting the Touch to sleep (pressing the sleep/wake button once) or are you turning it completely off (by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and sliding the on-screen switch)? If you turn it completely off it will probably lose its place, but not if you just put it to sleep (or let it go to sleep due to inactivity). It could also be a function of your radio adapter accessory -- if it plugs into the dock connector then perhaps it is resetting the Touch each time you connect it. Not all accessories do that (e.g. my Honda's USB link does not).

Turning it completely off (I think). If I just put it to sleep will the batteries last so long?

Turning it completely off really doesn't save any appreciable amount of battery life. But turning it completely off periodically (~ every 20-30 hours of usage) is a good idea to clear out its memory, which may help avoid quirky behavior.
