Well, there is the Apple store right in New York and I believe one right in Times Square and I have always wanted to purchase something Mac there. lol. Just a cool looking store! Now I believe the actual device will work anywhere you just may need to buy special plugs to charge it.

I don't know if i would buy it in Times Square. EVERYTHING in Times Square is too expensive! $12+ dollars for a hamburger?? no way!

I would also recommend buying it where you are now and having it for the flight there

Apple charges the same price for their products no matter where the store is located in the U.S. A 2G 32GB iPod touch is $399 in every Apple store across the U.S., Apple isn't going to charge $411 just because the iPod is being purchased in the Times Square store.

The cheapest place to buy an iPod touch, in the U.S. would be online and not through the retail stores. Every store is pretty much going to charge you $399 (U.S.) for a 2G 32GB iPod touch, $299 for a 2G 16GB iPod touch, and $229 for a 2G 8GB iPod touch. Only purchase the iPod touch in the U.S. if it is much cheaper than on the UK.

You won't have any issues with it working with your computer though. You might have an issue using an AC adapter though. Most AC adapters are fine as they have now adopted the 5V USB2.0 output but some of them might not use this standard. You won't have any issues syncing or charging the iPod via your computer.

Time Square? Isn't that were all the tourists-scamming camera stores are? They suck you in with something that sounds like a good buy then pile u up with extras$ u don't need.

The Touch actually comes with an AC charger? <gasp!> Then by all means buy it in the U.K. 'coz who would want to use that gigantic plug adapter. Plus if u have a prob, who u go back to? It would be nice if Touch have worldwide warranty, but.....

Oh yes, get an iPhone because we all know that everyone can afford the $99 a month charge to get data and cell service.
