Did a search on this topic and found several threads telling which models weren't comfortable enough for snoozing, so who has a candidate for most comfotable? It is worth noting that since I listen to mellow sounds verrrrry low to doze off to, quality is not really that important. Comfort, however, is. What I'm looking for has to be comfortable enough so I can lie on my side for extended periods (or until I wake up and take 'em out! :p ). Any candidates?

i do fall asleep with my ex71s on/in quite often, until i realise that the music has stopped and it's time to really go to sleep. then the buds come out, no discomfort to my ears, though i'm only asleep for about 10-15 mins.

And you can comfortably lie on your side for extended periods with these in? These were the 'phones I had my eye on, but I wanted a personal recommendation before parting with the cash.

I don't know about comfort but you should probably make them a cheap pair if you'll be sleeping with them on a lot. The chances of cords getting pulled out or crimped is pretty good.

ex71's are comfortable as hell....half the time i forget i have them on and i wonder where the music is comin from ....i fall asleep with mine on all the time....then soemthing snaps into my head that i have my ipod with me and if i drop it i'll cry so i quickly get up and put it away lol

yeah, the ex71's are definately comfortable but like MikeM said, you should probably get a cheap pair, there's a good chance they could get crimped or pulled and that would suck... the wires on the ex71's are really fragile... as are a lot of 'phones actually... but then again, you dont want to have poor audio quality, so get yourself two sets.. :)

i sleep on a soft matress without knives all over it or hard objects....so it's hard to see how the cord could get destroyed...honestly...think about it

i could proabably sleep with them for longer than 10-15 mins, but it's the lack of music that wakes me up, not the ear buds : ) as for the fragility i don't do much other than extend the iPod a fair distance from me so the cord is as extended as possible.

depends on how you sleep... me, im constantly shifting positions and the cord would get tangled up... since they're so freakin thin i could see the wires being torn from one end or the other... i use them at night sometimes, but when i notice im falling asleep, thats when i turn it off and put it away.... that, and the fact that i sleep with knives..

Well, I ended up not getting the EX71s, but their little brother (sister?) the EX51s. Cheaper by $20, and the specs on Sony's site show them to be all but identical (I still don't know what the difference is). At any rate, they are perfect ! Small enough to fit comfortably in the ear so lying on my side is an option. Sound is OK, but that was not the prime consideration anyway. This going to sleep listening to music thing is getting addictive.

so what kind of music do u listen to exactly before you go to sleep? Just curios. Also any1 find the difference between the ex51s and 71s?

there is NO difference, other than the housing. ex51 is hard plastic and ex71 is rubber... that's it... the internals are the same, as is the sound...

Ah, I thought so. Glad I save some money.

Mostly New Age stuff that zones me out. Nothing you'd want to risk playing while driving :p
