Like it says. Stay away from macconection.com. When I order I called and they said Apple was shipping them an order on March 4. The shipping time on the website was 5-7days. I called and confirmed ( i called march 2nd) I tracked my order daily to keep up and to see when my mini would ship. To my surprise on March 5, I checked my order, it said backordered. I called to make sure this wasn't a mistake. They told me they were recieving another batch from Apple on April 4th. I couldn;t believe it was pushed back a month. I didn't cancel because I thought everywhere else would have the same problem. Well, time goes by slowly waiting for my mini.

PS: Come to think of it, it is partially Apple's fault for postponing shipping dates if this is what really happened.

Yeah, I know how you feel man! Lastweek I ordered from jandr.com and it clearly stated that it was in-stock and would ship within 1-2 business days! After the whole week passed without any notice, I decided to e-mail them today and they said that it was not in stock and they don't have the manufacturer's ETA! I was so ####ed and I e-mailed them back about my disappointment!

I wish that company's like Apple and J&R would get their act together......esp. Apple!

you guys seriously need to cancel your orders . . . what will you do if your ipods are DOA or break the first week? imagine the nightmare of having to return a product with those companies.

nihil8r-jandr and macconnection are both reputable and responsible companies. They've been around longer than Best Buy. In my experience, maccconnection is reliable and truthful. I've never had a problem with service and would not hesitate to put my credit card number in their database. If anything, the macconnection people are a little too honest! If they did the "we might get some before then" trick, they could fool people into backordering. They don't.

I wouldn't be blaming Macconnection or J&R--both are very well-respected online retailers. Apple is the one not getting the shipments to the retailers in time after mispredicting the demand for the mini. Anywhere you order online right now, the wait will be about a month. That's just the unfortunate truth about wanting to get in early on a hot-selling product.

Yes, but isn't it lovely how these online vendors take a convenient 3-4 day wait after a product like this runs out of stock to actually post it on their website? I ordered from an online service which listed the blue mini as "in-stock"; a day later I received an email stating that they were "backordered." Funny how that works-they got my cancellation right away. J&R apparently had the same deal- I saw the "in-stock" listing they had on blues and silvers last week, too, crunk.

Well they can't always update their product listings in real time, you know. Yes, occasionally it will say "in-stock" and they may already have taken orders for the last of their stock. But if they let you know soon after, I don't see what the problem is. With the mini, anytime a site lists it as "in-stock", seems like everyone jumps over there and places an order, so its no wonder they are too overwhelmed processing orders to immediately update the website.

Again, if people really want it right away, they should find a store that has them, and go buy it there.

I still find that peculiar. See, in retail, if I tell someone that we have "X product" in stock, and they show up only to have us not HAVE "X product" in stock, particularly after I've taken their money, I'd call that lying. But that's just me. And "real time" means 2-3 days? I can understand MAYBE having a couple hours worth of turnaround to chance your website listing, but for an extremely popular item that lots of people are going to be buying? That's not cool.

Yeah if its actually taking a couple of days to update, thats probably pushing it. You would want them to have a little bit better contact with their warehouses. But again, on a hot-selling product, all bets are off. Finding an iPod mini at this stage of the game is pretty much a crapshoot.
