I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I don't know very much about the limitations of the iPod but do you think it would be a problem if i left my iPod inside the center console. What kind of temperatures can it handle? like right now the temperature ranges from the 40s to the 60s, would it be fine in those conditions? and how about in the summer? any thoughts?

Liquid Crystal Displays hate cold temperatures. The display would be your biggest problem and a long enough cold spell could probably kill it. I've left my phone in the car many times in the cold on accident and have found the screen to be blacked out until it warmed up. Or sometimes the responsiveness of the screen worsens so that it can't seem to keep up with the phone's cpu. I would assume this would be the same for the iPod.

Heat in baltimore shouldn't be a problem as long as it stays in your center console and not exposed to direct sunlight.

Environmental requirements
Operating temperature: 32? to 95? F (0? to 35? C)
Non operating temperature: -4? to 113? F (-20? to 45? C)
Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
Maximum operating altitude: 10,000 feet (3000 m)

Colder than I thought.
