Get sound when turned on??

Just got an iPod Nano for Xmas. Loaded some music and everything seemed OK. To play the music I seem to recall all I had to do was press the Center Button. Now all of a sudden, when I do that the screen comes on and it says a song is playing, but I get no sound. If I then press the Play/Pause button, everything is fine. Should I leave well enough alone? Or am I imagining the first scenario??

Try a reset and if that doesn't fix it do a restore in itunes

Did a restart. Reluctant to do a restore since everything's working. I noted that the song (after I turn the machine on) is in Pause. It apparently does that when I turn it off, which explains why I have to press Play/Pause to get it started again after I turn it on. Is that normal or just weird?

Isn't "pause" stopping?

If you want to abandon the song, find another an play it, or start up a photo slide show, or watch a video or sync.
