I have tried googling to see if anyone has "deglossed" their black iPhone 3G, and I'm disappointed that no one has done it.

This is a deglossed DS Lite - http://kotaku.com/gaming/ds-lite/deglossed-ds-lite-203190.php

I have been using a bodyguardz film on my iPhone 3G, and it was a nightmare to install, and it turned out pretty badly, but could still protect the phone. Now, dust is settling on all edges and the skin is just peeling back, and I'm going crazy just seeing it collect dust all over. I am very tempted to peel it off, but I'm afraid of getting scratches.

I have seen scratchophobes sandpaper the iPod's chrome back or the iPhone's chrome bezel, but seems like nobody has done the back. I wonder if I should be the first. Any thoughts?

(Okay maybe not.)

Just peel that crap off and get an Incase Slider.

It barely increases the size of the iPhone, look great and protects the phone very well. Pair that up with static type film screen protector and you are golden.

Doing something chemical or abrasive to the case of your iPhone will probably void the warranty.
