Apologies if this has been answered before, but the returns from my search give conflicting information.

Can an iPhone synch with a stand-alone install of Outlook ?

I am looking at replacing my existing phone and handheld with an iPhone. For this to be a valid solution I need to know that it can synch with both my work and home PC. The work PC should not be an issue as our company network has Outlook running on MSExchange. (Unless someone knows of problems.) What appears less clear is whether an iPhone can synch with a stand-alone version of Outlook on my home PC, without MSExchange.

Can anyone provide a definative answer to this ? Some references that would allow me to read around would also be useful.

TIA

John.

If I can recall my father has been syncing his contacts/calendar/e-mail with Outlook, and doesn't use MSExchange.
I'm using Outlook Express and iTunes doesn't recognize my calender, and I have to use the address book for my contacts. But the e-mail works just fine.
What you looking to sync, I'll send a message to my father asking if it does what you need

I forgot how MSexchange works, but if say u ever used your work laptop one the road and was able to view your calendar + contact info wo making connection back to HQ, I think that's it.

Calendar + contacts is all yer interested to get into the iPhone right? (iPhone can't deal with To-Do List). And oh, I think it wants OL2003.

Both the work and home PCs are "static". The iPhone would provide the up-to-date contact and calendar information whilst on the move. I do not need the iPhone to synch information when not docked to one or other PC. Hope this clarifies things.
