I have been looking for an external battery pack for the Touch 2G. I frequently travel cross-country and I needed more battery life. I bought the Just Mobile Gum Pro Portable USB Power Pack for $59.99. It works great with the new Ipod Touch.

A new member can't post web links here so look up these for more info. Look up the review on this site for Just Mobile Gum & Gum Pro Power packs. Also look at Just Mobiles web site at (just-mobileonline)

It is very well made and feels very solid. It is pretty small and easy to carry. It charges from a USB port on a computer. The only problem that I found is that it doesn't come with it own 120 volt wall plug but my Apple Ipod 120 volt wall plug works fine to charge it from a wall outlet. It has 3 lights to tell the level of charge. Once charged, it quickly recharges my Ipod Touch (you can use the Ipod while it is charging). According to the ilounge review, it will recharge the Touch about 5 times and I think this is probably accurate from my experience.

I bought mine from Expansys (expansys-usa) and received it in a few days - quick service. I paid $62 with shipping. The smaller unit sells for $39.99 and appears to have half the power supply. I think the smaller unit would have worked fine for my use but for $20 more you get 50% more power and it isn't much bigger.

My wife has a Maxell power pack for her Touch 1st generation and it doesn't work on the 2G. The Just Mobile is a much higher quality unit. I am glad I found it. This solved my power problem.

why do the chargers that work with 1g fail on the 2g? It doesn't make any sense to me.
