I just got a new 2nd gen itouch 8gb and was wondering about a few things.

1. When I'm watching videos or playing music and flip the screen to the side it doesn't flip or it flips the opposite way.
2. Why is the capacity of the touch smaller than my 3rd gen nano? touch - 7gb , nano - 7.41gb
3.Is there a way to disable the lock screen?

For the lock:Settings-General-Lock-Never.

The touch has a real operating system as opposed to the nano, hence the reason for less storage available.

When I play music, the screen flips accordingly for me.
I haven't tried videos yet, so can't help you there.

Also, it's called an iPod touch, not an 'iTouch'! I hate it when people do that!

ok well sorry about that... another question about my ipod touch is:

Does the screen on anyone elses ipod touch black color look kinda of gray? Like it doesn't show blacks as being a deep black.

It's a 3.5 LCD. The black level won't be near anything that your LCD/Plasma TV can offer, so the best thing you can do is live with it.

As for your other questions:
1. Did you try flipping it vertically? I mean, flip it when the screen parallel to your body. Sometimes the accelerometer doesn't detect when you flip the iPod while it's being held horizontally (parallel to the floor).

2. The iPod Touch has a de-tuned version of Mac OSX, therefore it needs more space to hold OS information. The Nano and Classic iPods do not have such a robust OS and therefore more space is available to the user.

3. No. You can disable it so that your iPod doesn't lock while you're listening to music, but when you Sleep and turn on the iPod again the Lock screen will always display.

Ok I was just wondering if all of them were like this because the blacks and colors seemed wash out to me...

I got the flipping thing to work out now... it would only flip the wrong way a few times by accident.

Is there a way to make the screen just shut off the backlight but not lock?

Thanks

Nope - can't turn off the backlighting without locking it. You can set it to lock never, but you'll burn through battery quickly...
