iPhone 2G in Egypt??

I am posting here on iLounge because I don't know where else to ask this question.

I am going to Egypt in 2 weeks on holiday and would like a recommendation on a local mobile company to use, if anyone knows.

I am after reasonable international SMS rates and a little bit of data for email etc.

Anyone have experience in Egypt? I gather that the two companies in the cellphone business there are Mobinil and Vodafone, but I couldn't make sense of their websites (even in English!)

If iPhone unlocked then u can use any pre-paid sim from either vendor, must be GSM of course.

If iPhone locked then u have no choice but subscribe to AT&T interntional roaming plan. Go to att.com and see who they partner with in Egypt. Note rate$.

My phone is unlocked but I'm not in the US so ATT is not even on my radar. I was hoping for an actual recommendation rather than general advice. Thanks though, at least you've outlined that I am on the right track.
