I am a very new Ipod use so I am not totally familiar with Itunes yet, anyway. I have a couple thousand songs that are on my Zune and I want to transfer them to my Ipod. These are not songs purchased from the Zune software but were downloaded from LimeWire(Yes I own all the music I downloaded). The problem is my computer crashed and all the original downloads are gone. All I have are the songs saved on my Zune which I am going to have to transfer back onto my PC once I reinstall the Zune software. Is it possible for me to then put these songs into Itunes by converting them someway? They are all still listed as MP3 files but they have this stupid little Zune symbol next to them which makes me wonder if they can be transfered. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I used to have a Zune, and if you use the hack to put it in disk-drive mode, you can hand copy the files onto your PC, and drag them into your iTunes library.

Awesome! Do you happen to know what the name of the hack is? And is this the only way to transfer the files to Itunes?

Do a Google search for "zune to PC" or something similar and you will obtain many results. 3rd party software can also transfer songs from your Zune to your PC. Just do a Google search and you will find plenty of options for copying files off of a Zune.

You should make a folder on your computer and copy all of your files in there. Any iPod will play mp3 files just fine.

Just on a side note: it doesn't matter if you own the music or not as it is still illegal to download the songs. The act of downloading them is the illegal part. You can rip the audio CDs to mp3 files and copy them to your devices all you want. You just can't download the mp3 files for free off the internet (unless the artists post the files up for download). Just a little FYI, no biggie. You would actually be better off ripping your audio CDs as mp3 files form p2p sources often come from YouTube or MySpace pages meaning that they have terrible quality. People often don't notice this quality until they listen to a ripped track right after a p2p download. Additionally, you will be able to choose your own bitrate and format for ripping instead of relying on someone who could have used the FhG mp3 encoder instead of the superior Lame mp3 encoder.

Ugh...I tried to use a Zune before. The software made me go right back to Apple.

Just install the Zune software and Reverse Sync your media to your computer.
Dont use the stupid hard drive hack. it is not needed.

and I know why are you going to iPod... ;)
