When playing cube runner on landscape i have to tilt the phone 15 degrees to be leveled.
I know the game can be calibrated but crach bandicoot cant (just wasted my $6).
Should i get it returned? or expect a firmware calibration fix? Is there any other application besides games that makes use of an accurate accelerometeR?
Is this happening to the majority?

You would be foolish to base something as serious as returning your phone because a third party app that does not make efficient use of the accelerometer. Some make better use of it, some do not. Some offer calibration, some don't.
I wouldn't worry about it. Try doing normal iphone functions like tilting for landscape and see if is is adversely affected. Try games that use the iphone's accelerometer for steering like cro mag rally.
If it really seems jacked up then yeah, return it. Otherwise just wait for an update on the app.

crash bandicoot is also off. The ball game was also off. They are all off so the accelerometer is faulty or uncalibrated.
I notice that not many games have the option to calibrate thats why im concerned.
If you consistently experience a mis-calibrated accelerometer then I would most certainly return it.

Wow... since when has the iPhone been used for games? You return something because a stupid game is not working right? Im sure that the iPhone is fine.... besides.... its for phone calls, text messages and what not which really none of which needs an accelerometer.

PINOY3000 you are being extremely narrow minded in your assessment of his situation. Try to imagine for a second that a function, however little used it may be, doesn't work on your phone. I think your opinion might differ significantly. The point is, that for whatever reason, a hardware component is not functioning correctly on his phone which entitles the OP to have it resolved. The fact that you don't use your phone for playing games means very little to him (or the rest of us) here on the boards. Besdies, web browsing, video playback, and cover flow will not work properly without this function so it is hardly a minor issue - especially with the "It's just a phone" arguement.

Mine's also off to the left. Not much, but it is noticeable.
I would not return it if that's the only issue with my iPhone. The replacement unit may come with other, more serious problems.

Strong opinion... I'm trying to find a hint of sarcasm in there, but anyhow, if that is truly what you believe... try telling Apple that after they just compared the iPhone to the Nintendo DS, and with EA slated to release several games... oh, not to mention Metal Gear releasing on the iPhone in the near future... and thats just the tip of it.
