New IPhone user.... love it - already can't live without it!

Can someone assist ? Sorting Contacts ????

Travel a lot and would like to be able to view contacts in the city I am in without looking thru my entire contact list. (Esp. helpful when I can't remember a restaurant name etc.)

In my old phone I could set-up categories and sub-categories and sort contact by thes categories.

ie. New York and see all items I had enteried in this category.

Can this be done on the IPhone ?

Any assistance is appreciated.

If you sync your iPhone with Mac, you can create groups and add entries to them in the Addressbook application. The groups will be synced to the iPhone's Addressbook. Not sure if it's possible with Windows.

The same thing goes on windows Outlook. You have to create sub contact list. After doing so, go into sync I tunes choose the contact groups you would like to sync. Unfortunatly there is now way to do it on the phone.

In addition to creating groups, you can download a handy app called Contact Tool, which lets you browse your contacts by just about any attribute, including location. There's also an app called Contact Grouper, which lets you manage groups right on the iPhone instead of having to do it on the desktop application.
