I have an iPhone 3G with 2.1 software (haven't updated to latest software because my phone is jailbroken with a lot of apps and i don't want to lose all that stuff).

I connected my phone to my laptop and was about to add some more ringtones to it when i realized that ALL my media content (ie. music, videos, ringtones) had turned into OTHER content, according to my itunes. I checked my phone and all my custom ringtones disappeared and all my music and videos in the 'iPod' had disappeared as well.

I'm assuming that all the media is still on my phone and has just become OTHER content as a large portion of my memory is being taken up by OTHER content that used to be music, videos, and ringtones.

Now, I'm stuck with no media to play on my phone, while a huge chunk of my memory is being taken up by unusable OTHER content that was once my music, movies, and ringtones.

Please help me. Thank you.

Was the sync interrupted?

This happened to me before, I had to restore from back-up.

The "database" of what's what has gone kerflooey. Yes, the data is still there, but the phone has no idea what any of it is. Might as well make the upgrade, 'cuz you're gonna have to Restore.

He is correct you will have to do a restore to fix this issue. My question is what version of Itunes are you using. Some earlyer versions of itunes where known to cause this type
of issue.

Thanks a lot guys. I was afraid that this would be the solution - i didn't want to go thru the whole process all over again, but i guess i have no choice.

i updated my itunes to the latest version 8.0.2.20.

Thanks everyone.
