I can see Steve Jobs shouting at the newspaper this morning, U People must think making a touch screen is sooooooo easy.
I got my hands on the BB Storm yesterday - the keyboard sucked. I'd echo all that was written in the article you linked to.

yeah, tried out the keyboard and it's worst than the iphone keyboard, which to me is surprising since typing on the iphone already suck...

Having to actually depress the screen for every character you type was a really poor decision.

Quote, from the MSNBC article
Their rants are shared at several phone and BlackBerry-related Web sites, including Research In Motion's own community support forums, where customers are finding empathy but little in the way of answers from the company that makes the legendary line of business-class phones equipped with e-mail and Web browsing.

To be fair, this is their version 1.0, which always have bugs. As usual, wait for the update, then decide.

I think the major problem is the hardware though, people just don't seem to enjoy it. Probably have to wait for the 2nd model rather then an update, but heck I could be wrong.

Yeah that doesn't apply for the Iphone thought! The first Iphone was the best. The 3G sucks! Way to go! Lets see if Iphone 3.0 will be the best. Lets hope they don't forget to add picture messaging and video recording capabilities cause after all even the crappiest of phones have those capabilities! Speaking of which, how the hell could they forget to add those features?! FAIL! This is the deal breaker for me for the Iphone. I'm sure I'll get a lot of heat for that comment but come on, people complained about the BB storm not having wifi and they said that was a deal breaker. Even though they can get the interwebs anywhere.
So does anyone have predictions when the 3.0 Iphone will come out? Summer 09 or 10?

I'm pretty sure there was way more problems with 3G's then the original. I also think apple messed up by getting rid of the first one. I think they should have still kept them in production and sold them for half the price or free with a 2 year contract cause not everyone has 3G where they live and why pay 10 bucks extra for something you don't use?!

The clickable screen seems like a great idea, there are many times I am trying to scroll but I click a link instead.
Lack of picture messaging is strange and a minor inconvenience if your friends don't have email/mobile email. Video recording would also be nice. You forgot to mention lack of cut and paste. I agree that lack of WiFi is not a big deal if you have 3G access.
I have hated every cell phone I have had and several owned by friends that I had a chance to play with but I love my iPhone. I am glad there is enough competition that apple can't get lazy.
I believe the iPhone 3G is cheaper to produce than the original iPhone. It would be nice to have the option of a $20 a month data plan if you don't have 3G in your area or want to save a few bucks a month.

Why support a separate model line (parts, suppliers, assy line, dox, warranty units, repair personnel, software dev, updates, etc.) that'll be obsolete in a couple years...for half price?

Ah.
You are not happy about how Apple "packaged" the 3G.
We were solely talking about software/hardware/interfacing-usage improvement.
