i have a first gen iphone running 2.2 firmware that is jailbroken via quikpwn. i am trying to setup a vpn connection to hotspot shield using instructions from here (http://hotspotshield.com/clientless/iphone/get_started.php). when i try to connect, i get the following error:
The IPSec Shared Secret is missing. Please verify your settings and try again.
i went back to the config and sure enough, the “secret” field is missing. anyone else have this problem?

Am not going to install this software just to answer ur question, but basically it's telling u the encryption key is missing (same as password really). Usually one that must setup on both ends.

bobb, thank you for the quick reply. however, i think my problem is that when i enter data into the "secret" field, it does not get saved when i exit out of the vpn configuration page. i've entered the secret field several different ways - with wifi turned on and off, yet it just doesn't stick.
as far as installing, there's really nothing that gets installed on your iphone, it's a clientless vpn that takes advantage of the l2tp support with the 2.0 firmware. if you connect to public wifi hotspots, you may want to consider setting this up. it (should be) easy and best of all, its free.
