All this talk about videos, touch screen all that crap has really got me thinking. How much are we thinking of paying for this thing.

I've got 2 ideas for the way the iPod should go.

1. There are a few main areas that need to be addressed about the current iPod before we start to delve into video iPod's etc.

- Better sound: Now this is a thing that is not really bought up but it is the whole purpose of a music player. I mean why pay the money we are giving apple if we can't have the best sounds. The first step is to improve the EQ, only one word can descripe the EQ at the moment. Crap. Where is the custom EQ settings, and half the different EQ options sounds exactly the same. Next is to improve the bass. My old Nomad II can put out better bass then the iPod and thats about 4 years old, and the last step is to improve the volume level. If anyone has owned an Creative they will understand what I am talking about.

- Sleep: This I believe could be one of the best improvements. Imagine a sleep mode so the battery can last those extra 3 hours. I don't care what the screen is showing while the iPod sits in my pocket, it could be a simple function aswell, just hold the select button for 3 seconds and there you go your iPod is asleep.

- GUI: Now this is where it gets funny, I love the GUI for the iPod, its quick, easy and most import its simple. Hence the reason for 2 different types of GUI, 1 is called Base Skin. Just your regular iPod you have come to love and trust. But now enter the world of Pod Skins. Imagine for colour screens with beautiful icons, wallpapers, album covers, Visualizations the possibilities are endless. The beauty of having these two choices is that if your type of person who wants to listen to music rather then look at then you are taken care of, while the rest of us who like pwetty colours and other nice stuff have the option open to us aswell.

Thats the 4g iPod

2. iVid is a side project away from the iPod. It is a completly different product. Video seems to be the talk of the town lately. And believe it does have its advantages.

- Vid Sync: Now I no TV tuners arn't that common in peoples computers, but I believe most people have a TV. Just hook up your iVid to your tv and with your wireless remote you can record straight from your TV to your iVid. Once the iVid hooks up the TV a screen will come up on you TV with details about movies on your iVid or music on your iVid all which can be played straight through your TV. Much like a Tivo but with advantages such as the ability to take TV to other peoples houses watch TV as you go to work uni etc, also the ability to take movies off your PC or music or photos or nething for that matter.

- Touch Screen?: This is a big question and I believe the best anwser is to have a touch screen much like a palm pilot using a pen. Then when watching movies the screen will be turned sideways and become widescreen.

Now if anyone can come up with some ideas about for the iVid or for that matter, my take on the 4g iPod's then plz leave your comments

Thankx

I agree with you about the 4g, and like the two option GUI. Better sound and sleep are great things to work on. About the iVid, sounds like a good idea, but I don't like the touch screen option. I don't know, something about having a touch screen just screams cheap, I don't know why. I much prefer the manual buttons. But I like the idea of having two separate lines for the iPod and iVid. Nice thoughts.

Yeah the 4g iPod would be pretty cool, good thinking.

The iVid sounds a lot like Pocket Media Center being created by Microsoft and a few manufactures. I would love to Apple destroy this market as well and create something amazing. Good luck buddies.

thankx for all your comments...

I was thinking about the whole touch screen issue and a thought came to me, why not have the best of both worlds. Make the iVid a flip screen and much like the Sony Smart Phone you can have buttons aswell as touch screen... I'm not sure exactly how this would work at the moment but some ideas would be kewl.

Also for the 4G iPod. I was thinking we should include wi-fi and bluetooth in the iPod.

Imagine being able to sync your iPod newhere in your house, no need for firewire cord or usb. Also with the use of wi-fi the ideas are endless. As a seperate option you can buy a sort of set top box, which would plag into your stereo and then instead of a need for a wireless remote your iPod is the remote. I think i'm thinkin ahead of myself here but I believe the possiblities are endless...lol
