Well my friend got a Sony head unit with aux-in in the back but it will only activate with a 6-cd changer added. Has any1 else bypassed this or you guys can give me any ideas. Thanks.

Yeah.. I have. You need the Sony XA-300. It will allow you to hook any audio device up through the unit. Google it or check ebay.

I got mine on overstock.com for 69 w/out shipping. It is the only way. I tried many measures to try and get around unilink but the xa-300 is the only way. Either that or a new head unit.

No it wont. The c-30 is only for multiple unilink devices. You still will need something like a changer to enable the aux source. Also the c-30 needs a power source while the xa-300 does not. Just bite the bullet and get the xa-300 its the only way other then buying a new headunit.

mentalcase your posting about the sony selector was very interesting ..but i could not tell from the info whether or not the xa-c300 would operate an ipod with a sony cdxca850 headunit.if it does is there a particular port at the back of the head unit where it connects and does it need power or does it charge through this method of connection please

Ight well first i dont know much about the ca850 but you have to find out if it has aux lite. Sony started enabling the aux inputs on there newer head units. If it does not have aux lite then u will need the xa300 or whaeva the model was. Basically u connect the xa300 to your head unit via unilink and rca cables. Then you connect the ipod to the xa300. The xa300 does not need a seperate power source. My guess is it pulls juice from the HU via the unilink cable. If you plan on using one of the car chargers like the belkin, monster or sik ones, i recomend getting a ground loop isolator. That will get rid of any engine noises or buzzing comming through. That goes in between the ipod and the xa300.

Heres a few pics of my install.

I also used the AX-300 in my install, I hid it in the glove compartment. I found mine for around $50 on ebay. Good luck!
