Hi, I have just purchased an iPod Touch 2G (16gb) and am wondering if a skin or some sort of protective covering is recommended in order to prevent scratches? Does the new touch become as scratched as the prior iPod models?

Thanks!

Get an invisible shield, or best skin ever, everything could use protection!

Yeah.. the polished back is a scratch magnet. However if you don't plan to resell it, go nudePod! Since the back is curved, you can't even use the 2G Touches as a mirror and without a bulky case it's easier to appreciate the thinness of the device.

NudePod?

Any recommendations on a good case to use for protection and for working out?

I use the Griffin iClear case and the Zagg Invisible Shield. The iClear comes with an armband and rotating beltclip and the Zagg shield is the best I've ever used.

One word of caution about the iClear, however. If you catch your headphone cord on something, it's possible for the case to split open. That is, the back part of the case stays attached to your belt and the iPod and the front part of the case break away. It's happened to me two or three times, but I still like the case.

Good luck,

Chris

NudePod = no case whatsoever.

If you need a workout case, get an armband case AND a BSE or InvisibleShield. Place the Touch in the armband case when you work out, and just take it out when you're done.

Does the face scratch from normal use or are you using a screen protector for accidents? I think thin spending $40-50 for a case and screen film is a little much for my $220 Touch. I did buy a Belkin Folio case for it for $20 though.
