1st gen iTouch--WiFi broken

for several weeks now, I've been completely unable to detect any WiFi networks on my 1st gen iTouch. I've tried switching WiFi off and on, rebooting the iTouch, restoring from a backup, and completely restoring--nothing works. Can anyone help, or do I need to go see a Genius? :confused:

I think a trip to the Apple store is a good idea at this point. You have done everything else to no avail.
