I want to return my iPod touch so I'm restoring it.

My knowledge is that restoring it deletes all settings and data put into it. But what about the registeration information that I inputed when I first used it (the time when you have to type in the code located on the back of the ipod)?

Also, if I return this ipod and get another one, will I still be able to put all my songs and applications that I had on the old one?

One more question, is the registration information of an iPod tied to your iTunes account? This is troublesome in two ways.

1. I will have to create another iTunes account
2. My personal information, including credit card number will be accessible if the old ipod is ever aquired by another user.

Any input on this matter is appreciated. Thanks.

The iTunes Music Store is "tied" to your iTunes on your PC/Mac, not your iPod. Restore the iPod & sell it if you'd like - the buyer will have absolutely no access to your ITMS account or credit card.

For that matter, you can "deauthorize" your ITMS account on your PC and sell the PC & the buyer still would have no access to your account.

Assuming you have your songs in iTunes on your PC/Mac, you can simply add them to the new iPod/iPod Touch.
