First off, I don't live in the States. The iPhone isn't available in my country, and that's why I'd like to do this.
I know someone in the US who could probably get me an iPhone when visiting here. If she orders one from Apple/Amazon or something, or if she buys from a store, could she get it without paying that $70 a month thing, so that she can get it with her here, and I can unlock and use with a local carrier? Even if there's a way to buy it and only pay for the first month, then stop? A lot of people use unlocked iPhones, and I doubt they pay $70 a month for a service they're not using, right? Is there any way I can make this work?
By the way, is it possible to unlock the 3G at the moment, without any hardware changes or anything? Using a program like QuickPwn or something. Even if there isn't, I'm sure they'll develop one, so please reply assuming that I can unlock it (if I'm buying it, it'll be a while from now, so from now til then they may have developed a way to unlock it like quickpwn).

Wow so many questions in here. Easy answer is no to all of them. You can't buy it in the U.S. without a contract and no it can't be unlocked in software.
