Navigation Systems and iPhone

I wasn't really big on navigation devices until i played around with the verizon navigator on my friend's LG dare. For $10 a month, this system is awesome!

The iPhone however, is another story. I'm assuming the google MAPS application is supposed to serve the same purpose as a navigation system, but after attempting to use it in Atlanta this weekend, it's really nothing more than a joke.

After doing a little research online, I saw that several of the new AT&T phones are compatible with what i'm supposing is at&t's version of verizon navigator: at&t Navigator. makes sense.

i'm guess that this new service, for whatever ridiculous reason, still won't be available to iPhone users. Anyone have information on this service, or know of any navigation services that are iPhone compatible?

you basically answered your own question. i don't think at&t has much say over what nav is on the iPhone and i agree, the interface is WAY better on the iPhone but no turn by turn is ridiculous..... i thought for sure it would be out by now.... but i did think that MMS would be too.

we just got a new razr2 that has the new at&t navigator service so i'll let you know how it is once we use it.

while i was in the store the at&t employee was raving about how easy google maps was to use for navigation purposes. do they pay these people to spew this stuff??? oh wait...they actually do pay them, don't they?

anyway, i'm still disappointed (and a little surprised) that we haven't seen an efficient navigation subscription service available on the iphone.

I remember hearing a while back about TomTom developing a 3rd party nav app for the iPhone.

I havn't seen that but would LOVE to. I would pay pretty good money for a turn by turn app. Then i could get rid of the clucky old one in my car.

Right now apple is not allowing anyone to make a turn by turn app. The only way it could happen is if that is reversed.
