Ringtones quesiton.

Close to getting iphones from work but boss read about having to pay to make your own ringtones. I have done some searches in the forums but all I see is talk about how to make your own but I(we) are wondering can you just say play this song when this person calls like almost every other phone or is the custom ringtones something different then that?

no you cant tell it to play a song, ie from a full mp3 etc. you have to make a ringertone and it's very easy to do. with no cost. it just cost if you use itunes to make a ringtone from an itunes music store song.

You can assign different ringtones for different contacts. The iPhone only comes with about 25 built-in ring tones. You can make custom ringtones from mp3's through iTunes for free too. 1. Find the song you want. 2. Find 30 seconds in the song you like. 3. Go to options and change the start and end time. 4. Encode to m4a file. 5. Find the file in explored and change extension to .m4r. 6. Drag back into iTunes. :-)
