I am a medical transcriber, so my doctor client will send me his dictations via email and I will type them up, so could I do that with iphone?

So basically would attach a keyboard to the iphone, check my email and download the mp3, then play it, and type it up onto a word processing program, while the audio plays -- then save the document and email it to him, can I do that on the iphone?

You can except for the attach a keyboard part. Which would probably do you no good because it might be hard to keep up with an mp3 using the iPhones keyboard. Oh yea that and the whole word processing part unles you are doing it using something like google docs that runs online

and listening to an mp3 would prevent you from using any webapps unless you were listening though the iPod app

yeah I thought it would be a long-shot, will just have to wait for future iphones whcih may be able to do this

Or just use a laptop to do that kind of stuff. It is more suitable than a phone.

yeah it would be a problem doing that with just the iphone.

If you have to haul around a keyboard why not just use a laptop? I think even if you could do this it would be to much of a hassell

YA, the laptop is a good idea. If for nothing else, at least so you can periodically save your progress (or have MS Word do it for you) so that you don't lost important transcribed data. I wouldn't even dream of doing this on even the best phone. Oh wait....the iphone is the best phone...
