Today I restored the system software on my 30GB 2003 iPod. Now my audible books which were reloaded from iTunes will not play.
If I try to start a book, the counter does not start. In a few seconds my iPod pages back to the prior menu.
I am running iTunes under Windows XP. Same books used to play.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Jack

Did you try contacting the support group at Audible.com? I think I would start with them.

Just a thought...
Maybe you need to reinstall the Audible Manager software so the related plugins are reinstalled into iTunes.

I will give the AM reinstall a try. I should have mentioned that I can play the books in iTunes but, they will not play on the iPod. Getting in touch with Audible.com makes sense. I wonder if they still have that on-line chat-type help. Thanks for your replies.

Jack,
Audible has the live chat, but I don't think on Sunday.
I have probably reformatted my iPod a dozen times since I got it and normally, it should not cause a problem.
I would save yourself the trouble of re-installing AudibleManager before you talk to them. If you use iTunes, there are no (AudibleManager) plug-ins needed for your iPod. In fact, if you have the iPod plug-in installed from a previous installation, you should deactivate it by setting your Devices setting to No Device. (in the Devices Menua)
I WOULD try deleting any current Audible files on your iPod, downloading a "fresh" Audible file from your Audible library, import it into iTunes and then transfer just that title to your iPod. That may reset the activation.

I did the reload of fresh Audible files (AM --> iTunes --> iPod) and it did the trick. Wish I could understand why it worked. That was a quick fix. Thank you very much.
I like this place. I may hang around here a bit.

GRR! I'm having the same issue... I've tried deleting and resending files but it isn't working....

The sequence that worked for me was.
1. Delete all "Spoken Word" from iTunes library.
2. Refresh iPod (thus deleting audible from iPod)
3. Add files to library from Audible Manager storage location.
4. Refresh iPod.
Good luck.

Nope... Still nuttin...
I'm wondering if it's because I installed Ephpod. What will happen if I delete the iPod_control folder?
you think that might help?

yeah, if you've used Ephpod since you did a restore on your iPod, you will need to restore your iPod again, and then just use iTunes.
Ephpod does not play well with iTunes when it comes to Audible files.
I quit using Ephpod for just this reason. I've found its best to just stick with iTunes and save yourself the headaches of conflicts.

I'm not sure what you mean by a restore. Can you elaborate?
EDIT: Never mind. I know what you mean. I did it and of course I don't have the power supply with me. I'll let you know if that fixed it when I get home...
Thx

FYI:
Doing a full restore fixed it. Was a pain, but at least it worked...
Thx

glad to hear that took care of it.
iTunes and Ephpod "manage" the iPod differently, so you're better off choosing which one you like and stick with it, or you have to reformat every time you switch.
