Hey,
Just got my iPhone last week and the one biggest thing I miss is being able to send texts from my PC using my iPhone. I used to have an application called MyPhoneExplorer for my Sony Ericsson and it allowed me to type messages on my PC and then send through my phone. It was excellent!
Is there anything similar for the iPhone? The texting is taking me ages lol :o

welcome to the lounge :)
unfortunately because the details of Apple's bluetooth implementation are not known (yet?) I believe developers are unable to progress further with apps like this - there is an excellent Mac app (BluePhone Elite) that does this well for most mobiles that have bluetooth, but they are can't do anything about the iPhone.

Thanks. I don't necessarily mean through Bluetooth though - you can use the cable to connect to the PC and go from there. But i'm guessing its poses the same problem with Apple being so secretive about their source code?
Agh well I can live in hope! The keypad is getting a little easier operate the more i use it so i'm getting there... :)

Not sure if this will help but you could make it look like your sending the txt from your iphone and use these email addys from your computer to txt
Alltel = xxxxxxxxxx@message.alltel.com (xxxxxxxxxx@message.alltel.com)
Boost Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@myboostmobile.com (xxxxxxxxxx@myboostmobile.com)
Cingular (AT&T) = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.mycingular.com (xxxxxxxxxx@mms.mycingular.com)
Einstein PCS = xxxxxxxxxx@einsteinmms.com (xxxxxxxxxx@einsteinmms.com)
Sprint = xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com (xxxxxxxxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com)
T-Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net (xxxxxxxxxx@tmomail.net)
US Cellular = xxxxxxxxxx@mms.uscc.net (xxxxxxxxxx@mms..uscc.net)
Verizon Wireless = xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com (xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com)
Virgin Mobile = xxxxxxxxxx@vmobl.com (xxxxxxxxxx@vmobl.com)

That's exactly what I do Shameless. It's free because it uses email, and you mobile users can reply to the text and it goes directly to your email. It's not going to say what phone number its coming from but most people should know anyways if you write them frequently.
This is a convenient way of sending SMS for a few reasons. First, you can still receive them through the mail app directly on your phone, and second you can do it from any computer anywhere through web mail.
I use gMail for this function and it is most convenient.
