The last 2x I've tried to eject my iPod from iTunes, I get a message window that appears telling me:

"The iPod (my iPod's name) cannot be ejected becauser it contains files that are in use by another application."

Since I'm not playing any songs via iTunes when I do this, nor am I doing anything else related to iTunes or my iPod, why am I receiving this message or why can't I eject my iPod correctly? After several tries, I just end up exiting out of iTunes and disconnect my iPod. Is this causing any damage or corruption to it when I don't eject it from iTunes "properly"?

Thank you.

check if you have placed something in iPod on disk mode.

If you cant eject through iTunes, then you should at least eject through Windows, via the "eject hardware safely" option. If youre on a Mac, Im not sure how that would work tho.

If you unplug the iPod when it has the "Do not unplug" screen, you could damage the data or something along those lines.

I wouldn't know what placing something on "disk mode" would be, so I'm sure that's not it.

However, I've never thought of using Windows' option of ejecting hardware safely. Thanks!

Also, if you have anti-virus software see if there is an option to not monitor removable drives. I seem to recall Norton being a cause of this problem.

Don't have Norton. I use AVG, and it's never interfered with my iPod removal in the past.
