So I'm about ready to purchase an iPhone and sign up with ATT.

My Verizon contract is up 2/2/2009. If I wanted early termination today it will only cost me $25 the CSR said. But my thoughts are should I just wait it out till Feb? What would you do? Will there be a newer version of the iPhone by then? I wonder... or just F it and get it in the next few weeks?

I'm also unsure about the ATT service but friends have told me its fine where I am at but when they travel they have found that there is not a lot of 3G service available. Oh well. comments?

Apple is most likely going to release a new/refreshed iPhone model by summer or early fall, so I guess it depends on how fast you wanna upgrade again?

since my contract with Verizon is up in Feb I have to do it by then. so... i guess it just means paying a small termination fee. i was thinking maybe something might come out for xmas time but i guess not. or would the iPhone sell at a slight discount? doubt it but...

Yea, I wouldnt expect a price drop for Christmas time, since the cost is already subsidized by quite a bit.

If I were you, I would buy it now. Like Shrimpy says, it's highly unlikely Apple will drop the prices of the iPhone anytime soon. $25 isn't bad at all for an early termination fee, either. I paid $200 to get out of my Sprint contract!

you guys don't think that there'll be a new line up at MacWorld 2009?

I thought that there would be for sure. At least a 32gig model.

gut is telling me to wait... i'm in no rush i guess but i do just want one. i was hoping for a 32GB version soon... but...

Verizon term fee goes down $5 per month for me. I could just wait till feb 09 but i don't know if i can last.

I always say, " Buy when you're ready." If you wait until February based on the hope that a newer version will come out, you might end up being happy that you waited or you may see no significant changes.

Of course when a new version or capacity is released, everyone will start talking about the next version after that. Right now people talk about the 32GB version and after that finally gets released, the 64GB version will be talked about.

So, don't base your decision on what might be released. If you want it and can afford it, buy it.

the other thing that is good is my company gets a discount.

Monthly payment will be $48.49 + taxes and all fees. I do not know if this is correct as a lot of my friends say it can not be correct. I thought it was low but when I go through the ATT business site and pick the cheapest voice plan and data plan that is what it says. I know regular price is $70 correct? So its $20 less. I tried calling ATT CS but they say I have to go through that website.

Anyone else out there get a company discount? There are no discounts on the iPhone though...
