I just bought a "Belkin Auto Kit for iPod w/ Dock Connector" for my mini today to connect it to my car audio. I was also planning on using an iTrip or cassette adapter. After paying about $40 for the Belkin Auto Kit I have noticed other chargers for around $20. I haven't opened it yet and was wondering if there is any big advantage to it or if I should return it to purchase a cheaper car charger?

As I understand the Belkin car charger has a line out you can use to connect to a cassette adapter/ head unit hardwire (so you don't have to plug the cassette adapter in to the headphone jack).

Edit - this is very convenient (I use my 3G dock for this purpose) as you don't have to fiddle with the volume each time you want to use your mini in the car.

So if you are going to use a cassette adapter or hard wire. Keeping the Belkin may be a good idea.

If you are going to use it just for power, the Griffin PowerPod works well for ~$19.99USD.

I decided to go with the belkin with the line out jack. I connected a sony cassette adapter and it sounds and works very well together. Plus not plugging into the headphone jack keeps things simpler (no messing with volume on ipod) and neater (less cords hanging from ipod)

Looks good. I'm glad things worked out. I like what you have done with the cassette adapter wire. Just stuff a little more of the wire behind the dash and you will be golden.
