Hi,

I just set up a yahoo mail push account to complement my gmail IMAP account.

I previously set Fetch to check email every 15 minutes for the gmail account. I heard this consumes a lot of power and checking mail every one hour is recommended for longer battery life.

Does "push" on the iPhone use significantly more battery life and anyone have figures on how much?

How much more battery life will I consume if I keep push on in settings and turn off "Fetch"?

Thanks.

both push and fetch take power. with fetch the more you check for email the more power you use. with push it only uses power if you get mail pushed to you, so the more mail you get the more power you use.

so look at it this way, if you get tons of email you might use less power if you fetch as it "batches" the mail, but you lose the "realtime" mail. if you don't get a lot of mail push might be better as it's not checking mail every 15 mins.
