Any recommendations which I should get? May have several hundred songs, a few movies, tv shows and 10-20 podcasts at any time. Is 8 enough or should I spend the extra 70 for the 16?

I'd have to say that it would be worth it to spend the extra $70 and upgrade to the 16 gig that way you always have room to grow.

Believe me, you will want that extra space. I was in roughly the same position as you when I got my 80GB Classic, and I've had a bit of a hard time going down to my new 32GB touch. Never underestimate how much space you'll need!

I have a 8Gb and its really 7GB when you first use it. I would go with the 16GB, If I knew that 8GB goes by fast then I wouldve waited for the 16GB.

I would suggest the 16gig without question. The previous post is right. Videos and TV show are memory hogs.

With 20% live cashback on ebay you can get the 16 for a pretty good price. When it was 30% cashback last week i got the 32GB for $275. Of course I will have to wait 60 days to get the cashback, but that's pretty good considering two weeks ago I bought the 16GB for $50 more from Apple. So that one is going to my sister and I'll be upgrading to the 32.

A lot of people have jacked up their prices because of the live cashback, but there are still a few at a decent price.

Figure about 500mb-800MB per movie (2 hrs)

I keep 10 movies (My daughter loves Barbie) on my 32GB touch, plus about 30 podcasts w/ some video and a couple of shows I watch.

I've got around 2GB left of space.

More space is better for me because I tend to be lazy and not want to manage my space, just dump the podcasts and video onto the touch and go.

Yea, I have almost 5,000 songs, about 4 movies and a bunch of podcasts, and I have under a gig left. I am waiting for the day they come out with 64 gig iPod touch. For me, that will be perfect. I have a 80 gig classic that has everything on it, and I have almost 40 gigs used up.

I bought a 8gb because they didn't have the 16gb and I wasn't even sure if I'd keep it but I wanted to try it out on a trip so I wouldn't have to carry a laptop. I made sure I could return it if it didn't do what I needed (mainly e-mail and light surfing as well as mp3 player). I played with it over a weekend and it worked perfectly for what I wanted so I went back to the store (BestBuys) and exchanged it for a 16gb a week later.

I ripped my movies so they take 350mb-450mb each for 2hr movies.

i had an 8 gb touch,, i started to convert my own dvd's and i bought the 50$$ ipod cable to watch movies off my ipod onto my tv.. so i convert movies to the best quality... my movies are at a minimum 1 gig in size...

8 gb fills up fast.. i bought the 32 gb touch,, yes the initial price sucks,, but now i have 21 movies and ALOT of music

take the financial plunge today and be happy with your available space forerver

Go with the 16G. I just bought the 32G but i am coming from an 80G classic and could not imagine going with just 8G's.

When it comes to storage the answer is simple, get the biggest you can afford. You can never have too much storage, only too litlle.
