Hey guys

So apple recently sent me a new iPod to replace a defective one I had

I plug it into iTunes to register it and it's calling it an iPhone

Is this going to be a problem?

EDIT: What I mean is that I went through the iPhone set up process, as opposed to last time when I went through the iPod Touch setup process.

No, it just had "set up iPhone" and for phone # it said "iPhone number". when I did a restore of my backup of my other iPod, it said "Restoring iPhone to Darryl's iPod"

Other than that, everything is labeled as iPod, so I dunno

As long as you didnt go through with the AT&T contract, you wont be getting any bill. Try to restore it from iTunes, maybe it will restore as an iPod. This time choose "Setup as new iPod", dont restore from a backup.

Hmm alright I'll have to do that when I get to my home computer

This is actually a fairly common issue when people plug in their new iPod touch's to their computers for the very first time. The differences between the iPod touch and iPhone are slim and sometimes, iTunes will see an iPod touch as an iPhone. There are many threads about this problem so if AndyT's suggestion doesn't solve your issue, you can simply go back and search the forums.

Well I'm sort of wondering if this is even a problem? I mean, my touch works just fine.

The only time it could get ugly is when iTunes tells you your "iPhone" has a software upgrade. Then you download and install this iPhone upgrade and then things go downhill from there.

Ah ok, I can see when I get home if it still registers as an iPhone or if it says iPod Touch

If I remember correctly (I only glanced) I think the serial #s were different as well

Its been well documented that the Ipod touch very frequently likes to call itself an Iphone. Its just jealous of its older brother. It shouldn't cause any problems.

Hey guys

I think all is well... iTunes is recognizing it as an iPod now, and the serial #s do in fact match

I'll leave it alone until there are some problems

Good to hear it worked itself out.
