Hey guys,
I just got my car back from the repair shop and I noticed that the sound quality through the auxiliary jack is not sounding good as before. :shake:
I don't think the whole sound system has gone awry, because the cd sound quality is still good.
It's a cheap 3.5 to 3.5 aux cord that connects my iPod so I'm guessing that if I can get a new wire the sound quality will improve.
So I was thinking...What is the best way to connect the iPod through the auxiliary jack and charge it through the 3.5V? What would provide the best sound quality?
Thanks guys!

you'll get better sound through the dock connector instead of the headphone port. you can buy a cable with the dock connector on one end and right/left RCA's on the other end. you can connect that to the AUX inputs on the back of your head unit (if you have them). the only problem with that is that would not provide power for charging.
you might be able to find a custom cable that has a dock connector on one end and RCA's+power connection on the other end, but i have never personally seen one.

Thanks for your reply. Does anyone know of such a product? Or any other way to get good quality music from the iPod while charging in the car would be great too. Thanks again!

Find any charging kit that has an aux out. The Belkin Autokit (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=149006) is one. You connect to the dock connector to charge and the autokit has an aux out to plug into that would then plug into the stereo.
There are other options out there was well.
What iPod do you have the autokit charges on the firewire circuit that the new nano, iPod Touch, and iPhone do not charge on so will not charge through.

I have a touch and a 5th gen 30 gb. So the touch will not charge on that? Is there one that will hold the iPod in place while driving? Thanks!

I reside in WA so that probably will not be a feasible option...Any other ideas?

You don't need any product that gives aux to the stereo as you already have that. The question is if the bad sound quality you have had recently is cable related, aux plug related, or the fact that all the sudden you are just recognizing bad sound because you've been using the iPod headphone port.
There are many products now that give aux out and charge the iPod at the same time.
The belkin auto kit is one, one that will certainly be compatible with your iPod is the LiquidAUX by kensington.
There is also going to be a product coming out that will connect to the dock connector that will let an new iPod charge on older accessories.
Lots of aftermarket stereos come with aux in now if it ends up just being the aux port on your stereo.
Good luck.
