so i just bought the new 8GB 2nd gen ipod touch, and i know you have to have a full like 8-10 hours original charge for maximum battery life right? well in the middle of the first charge the power went out and then came back on a minute later, will i still have the full 36 hour battery life now, or will it be less because of it :o

You'll be fine; just let it charge until it displays fully charged. From then on, try to use it enough each month to acount for a full discharge/charge (i.e. try to use it for about 30 hours each month, recharging when needed). Your battery will love you better if you don't constantly "top it off" -- that is, don't put it on the charger at the first sign of battery drain; charging once a day, or once every two days or three days -- whatever fits your usage routine -- is fine.

But i used to have an ipod classic, and i charged it until it said 'fully charged' and it would only last a few a hours, and they said it was because my original charge wasn't long enough.

Well, "they" were wrong ;-) These are not Ni-Cad batteries with a "memory"...reaed up on Apple's batteries (http://www.apple.com/batteries/); note the links on that page.
