Just got my touch a few days ago and love it. But there's an issue with the WiFi connection I can't get past.

When I want to turn on the WiFi connection on my touch, I go to Settings, WiFi and find my WiFi connection and turn it on. Nothing really happens. The OK-tick is there and everything, but the WIFI logo is not appearing at the top. I have to turn the device on and off before it appears. Is this normal??

I guess there are some settings that has went wrong. Any help guys and gals?

This is a known problem and your solution is the same as what the rest of us are doing. There are several similar posts in this forum with further discussion.

Hi,
I have the same problem, but the work-around I use is as follows. It works all the time.

1) Go to Settings/Wifi/Turn On.
2) It will automatically detects my wireless network and the check mark appears. But no connection to the internet yet.
3) I then turn off Wifi.
4) Wait a few seconds
5) Turn on Wifi.
6) Open any app that requires internet such as Mail, Safari, etc. You now have internet connectivity.

This seems strange but I expect Apple will have an update/fix soon.

I had problems with my wifi too which is why I returned the Ipod touch. Now I'm Ipod less and it sucks. I think I might have to get another touch or Iphone.

My iPT was working flawlessly for the first few days, but then I started having connection problems after disconnecting and trying to reconnect with my WiFi at home. Under "Wifi" settings everything looked good, connected to home WiFi with the green tick, but no applications reliant on internet would work.

I also purchased a subscription to the WiFi network in my local town, so thought it would be a good idea to download the app "WiFinder" so I could scan all available networks. This caused further problems as to connect to a my local town network required signing in originally and entering login details, yet to connect through WiFinder made this impossible.

So after a bit of thought, I deleted WiFinder, and this fixed my connections problems at home, and since then I have been back into town and managed to register and connect to the local network there. Now everything is back to normal, I can turn WiFi on and off without problems, so maybe if you have installed anything similar to WiFinder, which is a network scanning tool, this could be causing the problems? Just a suggestion.

No MacBurg, that is not the problem. I don't have and have never had wifinder or anything like it. The bone stock itouch's all have the problem.

I work around it by turning on wifi, letting it recognize the wifi, then shutting the itouch down and restarting, then it works flawlessly.

I sure hope Apple fixes this soon, it's pretty ridiculous. Even my 5 year old Dell Axim could connect to a wifi spot with no problems. WTF Apple?
