Hi there. Ive recently purchased an 80gb Ipod classic so i can listen to my music in the car and im not planning on using it anywhere else. The ipod is connected to a Kenwood head unit using the kenwood IP500 adapter. My question is will i damage the ipod in anyway by leaving it connected and in the car? I havent had any problems so far and its nicely tucked away from view?

One issue to think about is excessive heat/cold. I leave my iPod in my car connected to the Harman Kardon Play and Drive kit probably 95% of the time and last winter the cold actually cracked the screen!
Mine is a 5G 60GB model, and it was relatively easy to replace the screen, and the part was cheap enough to source in ebay.
Just something for you to bear in mind.

With above 100ºF/37ºC, I unplugged it everytime I get off my car. Just in case!

I would have to agree with the others. I tend to only bring my 5g 60GB in during extreme heat or cold.

I think mine will be ok in terms of hot and cold. Living in the UK we rarely see any extreme temps. A few days ago it was a very warm day but the ipod was nice and cool in the glove box. My biggest concern was the battery charging. im unaware if the ipod has an intelligent battery and stops charging when the battery is full.

It does. (Of course, this doesn't mean the auto-stop-charging circuits are always gonna work; : sometimes (http://www.switched.com/2008/03/12/japan-asks-apple-to-investigate-exploding-ipods/) : things (http://devicedaily.com/gadgets/exploding-ipod-nano-is-back-apple-you-have-a-problem.html) : blow (http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/08/19/apple-will-gladly-replace-your-exploding-ipod-nano/) : up (http://users.on.net/~eeno/photos/ipod/main.php) :

i take mine out and with me not only due to the heat or cold, but also so it doesnt get stolen while im away from the car. ive lost two stereos due to theft and dont want to risk
losing my ipod as well. yes the car was locked, they broke the window to get in.
