I have an older Sony cd deck, the CDX-F7705X and want to hook my new 8G Ipod Nano up to it. The deck has an aux input for a cd changer and I tried to use one of those Monster iCables that has 2 rca's on one end and a 3.5mm headphone jack tip on the other and I ran it from the headphone jack of the ipod to the aux input rca jacks on the back of my deck. The sound was terrible, I had to crank the volume on my deck to hear anything. Could I try a compoite a/v cable that has a ipod dock connector on one end and the rca's on the other and run it the same was as above?? If that does not work, am I left with using the Sony Ipod interface XA120IP?? Please give me any insight into this situation, I really wanna get this hooked up the best way possible asap. Thanks for any and all help.

Milz,

I believe the impedence level on a headphone input, and a line input are vastly different.

I had exactly the same thing before, and just used one of the cables that has a dock connector one end, and RCAs the other.

So you just used a wire that had rca's on one end, plugged into the aux inout of your car deck and the other end had the ipod dock connector plugged into the docking port on the ipod? Did this configuration give you good sound?? Thanks again.
