i'm looking for one of two options

1. ipod interfacing unit that plugs into the back of your stock stereo CD changer port.

2. a usb capable after market head unit. if i do this ill prob get new speakers too.

i want to be able to control my ipod, instead of being forced to use the car stereo interface (none of the car stereo interfaces look as good). also i think its safer to be able to hold the iphone up to the steering wheel so you dont take your eyes off the road.

not interested in FM transmitters they're not even close to a digital signal. also not interested in tape deck solution for the same reason.

i use a peripheral PXDP to play music right now which worked great on my ipod. it wasn't until after i bought the iphone 3g, i found out the way they charge is different now, so my PXDP only plays the music it doesn't charge the iphone.

just looking for a unit that i will charge and play my iphone, and that uses a true digital signal.

You forgot to mention your vehicle, model, brand
i can tell you that apple change the charging pins on the 3g so there is no interface that will charge the unit at this moment dice and usa spec are working on a cable for that but it will take months to be ready
