I have a jailbroken 2.0.1 1G ipod touch. Recently my iTunes 8 said that it could not detect anything on my ipod despite it being able to do its normal tasks such as playing music. Naturally I decided to fix this by upgrading it to 2.1...which I tried to do. Once the iswp finished downloading, the the restoration began but after a few seconds into it, I got "An unknown error occured(6)" and the restoration got canceled. Now, the ipod touch is now stuck in restoration mode with no capabilities. iTunes keeps asking me to restore it but I get the same error every time...any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my 1G 32gb as soon as i tried to upgrade to 2.1 probably less than 6 hours after purchasing it. I syncd it with itunes then upgraded to 2.1, between it upgrading I received the same error. To fix it I downloaded itunes 8 onto a different computer (no songs and no 2.1 autoloading) which basically put it back to the previous firmware. Then I downloaded 2.1 on the second computer and it worked fine........

I swapped that ipod the next day for a new one, for whatever reason it would not charge above 20%. Rather than trying to just rollback the firmware again I just got a new one so I have no idea if the first one ever charged to begin with.

I didnt try all that hard but I couldnt find the 2.1 update on my computer to delete it so I just used a separate computer.
