Hi I was never into the whole Ipod thing until 2007 my mom bought me a Shuffle (1GB) I like it but wished I had a screen. 1 year later for my Birthday my mom got me an MP4 player and while yes it has a screen/lists your songs etc. the headphone jack sucks! (You have to leave the headphone hanging out if it's in all the way the music freezes! A friend and I were discussing the Ipod Touch and I was considering getting one around November but had some questions. :-) (I am aiming towards getting the 8GB(7GB after everythings done) :-) to have some reference on my 1GB Shuffle I've used 1/2GB (almost LOL) so not much of a music person)
1) When should the Itunes8/Vista (bricking) be fixed? (I know the Touch 2G doesn't work without Itunes 8 but I'm NOT CHANCEING BRICKING MY COMPUTER!!!!
2)How do I keep my $200+ Touch safe? (This isn't a Shuffle you can clip onto your shirt while lets say doing chores or walking around a store) which is my main Shuffle use BTW. :-)
3)I'm mostly interested in all the neat APs but since they don't take up much MB it shouldn't be an issue right? (I'd have around 7,000MB!!!!!) (8GB would suffice right?)
4)What IF I can't find a 2G case should I settle for an original and what kind (considering the use in question#2) (expensive armourish thing simple and clear(which is what I was aiming for.) :-)
5)Anything else I need to know? (As I've said I was wanting around I'd say 10-15 Aps as of know and I have around 1/2GB music which isn't much and I think the 8GB would be good. :-)
Thanks Ipod users sorry for all the questions but my friends suggested Ilounge so here I am. :-)

The most recent iTunes 8 installer is supposed to have fixed the BSOD in windows.
2)How do I keep my $200+ Touch safe? (This isn't a Shuffle you can clip onto your shirt while lets say doing chores or walking around a store) which is my main Shuffle use BTW. :-)
There are so many cases and things. I've become a fan of the invisible shield, though installation can take some balls. Consider Applecare to extend your warranty by one year. Or consider buying from Bestbuy or another store that care protection plans that will often cover accidents as well as defects.
3)I'm mostly interested in all the neat APs but since they don't take up much MB it shouldn't be an issue right? (I'd have around 7,000MB!!!!!) (8GB would suffice right?)
Apps vary in size. Some can reach 100mb, especially games. It depends on how much music video you want on there as well.
4)What IF I can't find a 2G case should I settle for an original and what kind (considering the use in question#2) (expensive armourish thing simple and clear(which is what I was aiming for.) :-)
You'll find a 2G case, there will be plenty of them out there. You'll want something that fits well. don't settle on iPod protection. Settle on what works best for your situation.
5)Anything else I need to know? (As I've said I was wanting around I'd say 10-15 Aps as of know and I have around 1/2GB music which isn't much and I think the 8GB would be good. :-)
Consider reading Code Monkey's smartplaylist article for helping control your music on a small iPod, for your music collection will grow.
Remember that iTunes -> iPod syncing is one way. iTunes -> iPod, Getting stuff off the iPod takes some tricks/ special software, so always back things up to protect your investment in Apps and music.
Read some of the tutorials here, reviews here, read the tutorials on Apple.com to familiarize yoruself with things and good luck.

Just to address the Vista issue..... I am using iTunes 8, and syncing with my 2nd gen Touch 16 gig on Vista Business ..... and it works perfect. No issues at all. I sync, download apps, have 2 gigs of photo's, etc.... and all is well.....
This 2nd gen Touch is my third iPod, and the best ever :)

just to be nitpicky, itunes never bricked anyone's computer afaik. it did cause a bsod, which just mean you had to reset the computer.
the 1g touch cases will probably not fit the new touch as it is curved in the back and .5mm thicker than the old touch, but you will definetaly be able to find more cases as time goes on. personally, i'm not a big fan of cases...my 1g touch was pretty durable. the only damage was the multitude of scratches the back chrome acquires...
for such a small music collection, an 8gb seems fine for you, and as stated, you can pick and choose should your collection grow larger. it's what i do with my 16gb...i only put about 9gb of music on there at a time.
