iPhone 3G without network...a question

Ok, as many know by now i live in an area where AT&T does NOT cover in the US, so i have no way of using an iPhone 3G...however a 16 gb black model was offered me by a friend for a VERY low price...200.00....i really want one like a touch but with the camera...

However, i do not have AT&T...will the iPod, camera, videos, photo, and internet modes still work? even without a network?! *Internet by using the wifi router i have at home*

I'm not a USA resident, but yes it will work.
Without a carrier it's just another pocket "pc"... or should I say a pocket mac :)

Later you can unlock it and use a different carrier.
