Not sure if this the right forum for this but I just got a new Ford that comes with Sync. The car has a USB port that I plug my iPod in to and the car reads what's on it. If I want to play an album such as, for example, Let It Bleed, I say 'Play Let It Bleed' and Sync plays the album for me. It also sync's my cell phone but that's a different story. The problem, though, is that it doesn't recognize my playlists. When I say 'Play, playlist alpha' it says that the selected media is unavailable. When I try to enter playlist selection manually from the audio system controls, it says that there are no playlists. Anyone know what's going on with this? I can use the iPod's menu fine when it's plugged in to the car using the outlet on the top of the iPod, but when it's plugged in to the USB, it flashed that "do not disconnect" message constantly and I can't see the menus. The software on the iPod is up to date, I have a gen two iPod, I've tried restoring factory settings on the iPod but that didn't do any good. I've tried a different cable and that didn't change anything. It's WEIRD. :shake:

No experience with this, I just do a little reading.... Some folks have no probs getting playlists to go, others can't (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1330643&tstart=0) get 'em to work. Missing tag data (artist, album, genre are usually blamed) causes quite a few probs; not sure how that would affect playlists, though -- maybe when Sync indexes it skips a playlist if an item has bad/missing tags?)
Have you tried the Sync forums (http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?showtopic=83)? And maybe Sync has info on your car+iPod (http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/Intercepts/InterceptIOP.aspx).

Yeah, syncmyride, where you need a VIN of a car with Sync to register, and they haven't even responded to my issue yet. It's not a real busy site and not very helpful yet. I'll try the other one, though, thanks. The one thing that I haven't tried, but will soon, is delete all of my playlists and add some test playlists to see if any work and then restore the original lists if it doesn't work. Is it one playlist that keeps it from indexing? That's an interesting theory. Smart playlists don't work, regularly added playlists don't work.
