I own a Sony MEX2600 (mainly for the wireless bluetooth interface with my ipod, sounds identical to the aux connection) and plan on upgrading my 6 speakers to something in the $350 range, probably Alpines. Might upgrade my stock amp and sub later, too.
I know people swear by the higher end units, but would it really be that much of a bottleneck? Would bluetooth on the higher end units actually not sound as good as compared to the aux, thus making it a waste? I was looking at higher end systems when I got the Sony but the bluetooth costs like $100 more beyond the cost of the unit itself.
