2008 GMC Envoy

I have a 2008 Envoy with stock radio. I went to Bestbuy last night to get the GM compatible adapter installed for the Ipod and the guy hooked it up and the radio wouldn't turn on. So he read online and the stock radio needs to have the XM/AUX output activated so that I can use the Ipod hookup. Does anyone know anything about this or what I need to do to get it done. If it is too big of a hassle I am going to just get the Alpine iDA-X100 instead. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

That is #$%^& all gmc radios 06,07,08 radios are xm ready and the port is open no need to reprogram anything

we always plug this interface and the ipod works,we did this in most 2007 but 08 radios are the same
