I have compiled many playlists in iTunes. As the sources vary which in effect means the sound levels can vary too, I have used the Volume Adjuster/Equaliser in iTunes to adjust the different sound levels. This keeps everything at a constant level when playing iTunes. Up until recently, I was then playing the iPod via headphone out into cassette adaptor in my car radio. Worked great.

Now I have a new car radio which accepts iPod via USB lead. The problem now is that the sound levels are not affected by my manual changes in iTunes so one minute I can be listening to a song where the source was rather low (so turn volume on radio up) - the next minute, I am having to turn it down as the next track was louder from source.

It seems the iPod interprets sound levels differently when coming from the USB lead as opposed to the headphone out. Anyone got any ideas how to get round this problem. Thanks
