Hey folks,
Had to take my iPod Touch to the apple store to get it exchanged due to an issue with the video shorting and showing white lines across the screen.
Anyway - got my replacement, and I am trying to figure out if it is a new one or replacement.
Done some searching around and found out that the first two letters in the serial # are the factory, 3rd digit is year of manufacture, and 4th and 5th digit are week of manufacture.
So my serial # is 9E830.
In my searches - I have not yet seen factory 9E for the iPod touch, only factory 9C. The 8 is 2008 and the 30 is 30th week - which puts it about 3 weeks ago, so curious if anyone has 9E or if that is an indicator of it being a refurb.
I saw this link - to decode the serial #s but it is now down:
http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
So curious if someone else has any info on decoding the serial numbers.
Or if you have a 9E iPod touch, that was bought new, that would put my mind at ease that I got a new one.
