iPhone 3G does not sync all iPhoto pics within an album

Hi altogether,

when I try to sync my iPhoto (V4) library to my iPhone 3G, it transfers only about half of the pictures! For example, if an album contains 100 pics in iPhoto, only about 50 of them are sent to the iPhone!

I have tried to figure out, why some photos are transferred and some are not: it seems more or less that older photos are not synced, more recent ones usually are all sent. If an album only contains recently taken pics, it is usually synced completely. but if an album contains old AND new pics, only the more recent ones seem to be transferred...

I have tried resetting the iPhone, restored it, I deleted the iPod photo cache in iPhoto's directory, deleted and re-established the iPhone-iPhoto connection, nothing changes the problem. Before, I had an iPod touch, same issue.

BTW: there's plenty of space on the iPhone left, so that's not the reason.

Can anybody help? Would be highly appreciated!

Have you also tried recreating any of the albums that contain older pics?

Yes, tried that. Is it possible iPhoto stores some older photos in some different format that iTunes cannot really read?
