Everytime I sync my iPhone it duplicates what's already in the photo library, so by now I have over 2,000 photos when I really should only have a a few hundred at most.
I use Abode Photo to import the photos.
Any reason for this?

You mean it moves the same photos to your desktop each time you sync? I'm sure there's a setting in your import software that tells it to only import new photos.
